To begin a new chapter we must first bring the current one to a close. As we approach 2013, as we say goodbye to the recent 5,000 year Mayan cycle, we can decide to lay aside fear of the unknown and open our eyes and hearts to the new.
We human beings innately get nervous about change. Be it an old survival instinct, or a protective aspect of our social nature, we often will perpetuate beliefs and actions that do not serve us only to continue to grasp that which we know and are comfortable with.
“In times of change, learners inherit the Earth, while the learned find themselves beautifully equipped to deal with a world that no longer exists.” — Eric Hoffer
The wise inherit the earth. The un-wise, those who resist and fear change, remain clothed in irrelevance and dogma. Moving forward into a new chapter is essential to the true meaning of ‘living’. Life is movement.
This also resonates with me… “It is not necessary to change. Survival is not mandatory.” –W. Edwards Deming, American statistician, professor, author, lecturer and consultant
One of my favorite teachers, Eckhart Tolle, maintains that our survival as a human race is not assured. It is not a “given”. We have the creative power to change and create the world that sustains, nurtures and inspires us…or we also have the creative power to negate and destroy.
I saw a FaceBook post yesterday by a “friend”, actually a family member, that said “…Let this world end. Enough is enough!” This in response to recent shootings and some other less that “positive” experiences he had observed.
Must we throw up our hands and throw the world away when faced with change? I think not! I choose not! In my understanding of Spirit, we are on the doorstep of tremendous growth potential as a human family. Let’s keep the world and throw out the fear!
What a concept!
IN-JOY the “start” of the world!
