My personal walk of the past few weeks has reminded me of one of the most powerful and helpful statements I have had the privilege to read, Marianne Williamson said it so eloquently,
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we’re liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” (emphasis added)
Our fear eclipses the truth of our personal power. In fact the fear-mind ego, that aspect of ourselves that is fueled and motivated by fear, twists the truth to the point that we fear even those basic attributes of humanity that should be as natural as flying is to a bird…or swimming to a fish.
Seek truth. And that journey of seeking starts within. It starts with becoming aware of our basic nature. We ARE powerful beyond measure. That is a given. A starting point, not something to be bartered for, to plead for and to expect in return for being “good”.
I watched a video of my 3 year old granddaughter this morning (available on my Face-book page for those of you just dying to watch it!) that reminded me of this pureness of knowing. Her positive affirmations as she snowplowed down the slope again instilled in me the importance of daily attention to my basic truth.
I am powerful beyond measure. There should be no question in this. The joy in that 3 year old voice reminded me of my daily discipline of awareness. To wake up each day with the first thought being of gratitude for who I am!
IN-JOY your day of love and knowing…give your dear Valentine’s a hug of gratitude today…
